About the role
HKC Construction is seeking a collaborative and insightful Senior Estimator to join our Estimator department. This role involves providing accurate bids and budgets for tenders and projects, leading estimates, and fostering relationships with trades, suppliers, and clients. Key responsibilities include working with the commercial team to prepare competitive estimates, communicating with stakeholders for repeat business, responding to client inquiries, and understanding tender drawings and specifications. The Senior Estimator will also mentor team members, evaluate subcontractor quotations, maintain professional relationships, and support project managers with detailed project information.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate bids and budgets for tenders and projects
- Lead estimation processes and foster relationships with trades and suppliers
- Work with commercial team to prepare competitive estimates
- Communicate with stakeholders for repeat business opportunities
- Respond to client inquiries and understand tender specifications
- Mentor team members and evaluate subcontractor quotations
- Support project managers with detailed project information
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial building construction
- Knowledge of industry best practices and building codes
- Experience in estimating with relevant certifications appreciated
- Strong project planning, management, communication, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented, with a willingness to travel for site meetings
- Valid Ontario Driver's License and vehicle access required
- Proficient in Plan Swift, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to interpret construction drawings
